is a painting of the human heart considered pop art?
because i need to do a painting for art class and i was wondering if the human heart would be considered pop art since its easily reconizable
if not .. any ideas of what i could do?
Pop art doesn’t mean the picture has to be stylized. Pop art is short for popular art, art of icons, household things, readily recognizable because they’re a part of popular culture. I don’t think a heart would count as pop art because it isn’t a big part of popular culture. Yes it’s easily recognizable but not because of popular culture. The king from burger king is pop art, Jesus could be considered pop art, Mickey Mouse and the Pillsbury dough boy, a microwave, a happy meal… etc

ART TEACHERS: I need help finding supplements to teach students about the figure?
I am teaching an abstract figure sculpture class and am looking on the internet for supplements/examples/hand-outs to show how the human figure has different “planes.” But, I can’t find anything.
Help?
abstract figure sculpture? that’s interesting. well, figure sculpture as I learned it starts with the kids learning all the major muscle groups from anatomy books. That was a huge help. Later, as i went more abstract I used that knowledge to stretch and make representational components less real and more emotional. “Planes” as you say, could be portrayed with the ‘how to draw’ instructional materials where the forms are shown as geometric shapes. Is it better to remove paint and then undercoat or undercoat on top of painted warhammer figure?
I have a warhammer (40k) squad painted as ultramarines but now i want to go Blood Angels so is it better to remove the paint before re undercoating or just undercoat on top? If it is better to remove the paint first, how can i do it (wouldn’t have a clue =P )?
It would be best to remove the paint first. If it’s not an option, do a really light coat of primer so that you don’t ruin the detail. As far as the color, black is best because it covers everything. But it’s hard to paint red on black. So I would suggest white. But with white the color comes through more so you have to do multiple coats.
If the models are metal, you can leave them in acetone for a SMALL amount of time to remove the paint. But I wouldn’t suggest that if the models are plastic because it melts them. So if they’re plastic, use the first paragraph for my advice.

Does anyone know a good book for drawing cartoon anatomy (Udon artists like or Capcom like)?
I’m looking for a book to learn how to draw anatomy similar to the way drawn in capcom art more so the udon artist do. If anyone knows any books (mainly more pictures than words and descriptive) that will help please tell.
