had to use 2×4 treated for rennovation inside, is it bad?
This was done in the bedroom of my step-son. I could not find 2×4 untreated were long enough so I treated. This is what the project was: 2×4 were cut and bolted to the wall studs of a perimeter around part of the wall of his room. I then used calipers and finished with a total of 5 rows of beams, so it kind of looks like a new floor above the ground leaving a portion of its wall. I then used untreated plywood sheets covering the top and bottom with screws. We sealed the platform edges with caulking and painting the platform. Then put his bed and shelves on it so it is now above the ground and his desktop is below. I'm just worried if the fumes from the wood treatment will out of this or will they be sealed well enough in both untreated plywood and paint. Am I too paranoid? Thank you!
In fact, you done good. The advantage of treated vs untreated is the resistance to termites and other critters starving provided by the treated wood. Untreated wood is cheaper because the idea is to stretch between the inner and outer layers for structural purposes. The treated wood is generally used to applications.Resistance exposed to moisture, etc. .. In fact, the chemicals used today are not as toxic as creosote or some other ST smelly they called conservatives.
