
Trying to make a vegan cake GOOD?
I became a vegetarian at the beginning of this year and since then I have not been able to make a decent vegan cake. I also tried baking cookies and they tasted vegan so gross! I think it has something to do with the flour I use. I use King Arthur flour is organic wheat whole. The cake is sweet and the icing was gross! I tried raw sugar can and turbinado sugar, what should I use? Is anyone know of a cake and a vegan cake icing recipe. I already tried vegcooking.com and those are gross.
Here is a recipe cake and a good cookie recipe. Do not use whole wheat flour! Chocolate Cake: 3 cups flour 2 cups white sugar 1 / 2 to 2 tablespoons cocoa powder to tea cup baking soda 2 cups water 1 c. teaspoon salt 1 / 2 cup 2 Tbsp tea 2 tbsp canola tbsp oil 2 tbsp teaspoon vinegar apple vanilla Bake at 350 + review 45 minutes. Frosting: 1 / 2 cup shortening nonhydrongentated (I use Spectrum All vegetable shortening). 1 / 2 cup margine nonhydrongentated (Balencie earth) 3 1 / 2 cups powdered sugar (sifted if clods (1 1 / 2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 / 4 cup milk Soy for a plain soy cream. beat shortening and mix well together and Margrin and fluffy. Add sugar and beat for another 3 minutes. 2. add vanilla and soy milk, and beat for 5-7 minutes until soft cookies: 2 1 / 4 cups flour 1 tsp teaspoon baking powder / 2 tsp Tea salt 1 1 cup vegan butter (Earth Balance) 1 cup Brown sugar / 2 cup white sugar substitute 1 to 2 eggs. I use 2 tablespoons chocolate chip applesauce (as much as you like) Mix the flour, baking powder, salt in a bowl. Mix and set aside. In a bowl beat butter and sugar until well blended. Add applesauce and vanilla and beat until very creamy. Slowly, add flour mixture until combined (but do not stir.) Mix in chocolate chips. 375 for 8-10 minutes or until done.
