Cleaning Paint Out of Carpeting
One of the worst things you can do to your carpet is to spill paint on it. It is one of the hardest stains to remove but removal is possible. Read this article to find out how to successfully remove paint from your homes carpeting.
The easiest way to remove paint is to catch it before it dries. If you spill paint on the carpet your first goal should be to keep it from drying. Place a damp cloth on top of the paint to keep it wet. The best thing to do then is to call a professional carpet steam cleaner to remove it. They have powerful equipment which can pull the paint completely out of the carpet. If you have a home steam cleaner you could try using it but the chances are good that you will either not have enough power to remove the paint or the paint might even ruin your expensive steam cleaner. For the best results call a professional in and keep the spot wet until they arrive. If the paint does happen to dry on the carpet your options are limited. Solvents can be used to attempt removal but caution must be taken to avoid ruining the carpets latex backing. Often the only solution for dried paint is cutting it out and replacing it with carpet from another area such as a closet.
As you can see, professional help is generally required to deal with a paint spill. It might cost you a little money but is cheaper than having to replace a ruined carpet. Good luck.
