Greatness of Armenian Art

Ever since the wars that tore it apart years ago, Armenia has been a small country. Throughout history, many people have set their sights on conquering this rich territory and enslaving the exuberant population therein. That said, Armenia continues to be a land with a
unique history, a fairytale-like epos and a strikingly distinctive culture.

Stones and ceramics have been preserved in the incomparable specimens of Armenian paintings and sculptures. The walls of Etchmiadzin, the Ereruyk Basilica, the Tatar Monastery and of other temples carefully preserve exquisite ornaments, reliefs and bass-reliefs which, to this day, reflect the imagination of humankind. Armenian paintings are rich in ornaments that depict animals, plants, the history of Christianity and everyday life scenes.

The emotion and strength of the imagination of artists have transformed ordinary stone walls into story-telling works of art.

After a time, icons began to appear in Armenian creations. Miniatures that depict religious imagery in the illustrations of books stand out, even now, in terms of their vividness and picturesque imagery.

The creativity of the Armenian nation is not limited to religious subjects. Since the emergence of mounted paintings, pictures with a Soviet content began to be more common. In the 19 th century, Armenia gave the world the gift in the form of the great artist-marinist Ivan (Ovanes) Aivazovski. His maritime themes which depict the beautiful Caucasian landscapes and everyday life scenes (displayed in more than 6000 canvases) are filled with the radiance of the lavish sun and spill out from his brushes.

Another example of creativity can be seen in the famous Armenian rugs. The roots of this element of Armenian creativity predate Christianity. It is no secret that the rugs in Armenia have a special status which is near to esoteric. Even the ornaments depict symbols of God, glory, protection, sacrifice and success. The cross and crucifixion symbols show off multifaceted swastikas and stars with many points depicting delightful images of the World and of God.

God and the World are everlasting images that stand alongside humanity. These symbols have been used especially in the contemporary abstract creations of Armenian painters, such as Arship Gorki, Gagik Manukiyan, Minas Avetisiyan and others. Through lines and colours, abstractionists express their perspectives on the whole concept of creation. The complex world of humankind and creation manifests itself in the smooth juxtaposition of shades and tones in vivid colours; as if the rugs of the ancient masters (or contemporary abstract paintings) are saturated with sacred concepts.

Similarly, in the ancient frescoes and miniatures, contemporary paintings of Armenia have remained, over the centuries, as depictions of a fine artistic emotions and the unification with nature.

Innovative Art lesson plans?

I am teaching art lessons for high school students. I have a really good lesson plan, but I was wondering if anyone had any really innovative ideas.

I want to focus on making realistic art, and yet still keep it creative.

The 4 major areas I want to focus on are: still life, portrait/figure, landscape and abstract (using the principles of design)

Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

I have one!

elementary art lesson plans

elementary art lesson plans
Plan geography lesson?

I am a student and a class that one day I write a lesson plan for five years. I am not very familiar with lesson plans. It is a geography class, and I decided to do my lesson plan on the state I live in Minnesota. The lesson plan is for students of primary school age. I decided to use the last two days Lesson Plan for a map of the art project / where they will make a topographic map of the state. What topics would be important to teach children in first three days? How do you go about configuring the lesson?

What degree (s) would be the target price on? You can read the standards education for Minnesota as a starting point. I learned my 3rd grade class how to interpret maps, learn more about the communities, and eventually make their own map and building a model community of it all. (Quadrant D is for those of you in relevance relation stuff /.) Begin by asking: "What is a community? Lead the discussion that a community is a group of people working together for a common goal. To do this, asking "What do we need in a community?" Houses to live, shop at the stores, banks, leisure parks, gas stations, restaurants, etc. What students think about their parents' place to go shopping and businesses. What are the places children? Schools, libraries, parks, perhaps video game store. Now you have your current community. Students need to learn map. It is abstract, so you'll need many examples. This book is a good start "Me on the Map" by Joan Sweeney. Teaching the parts of a map (TODAL) T = Title O = Orientation (compass rose) D = Date (the map has been made or revised) One author = (For purposes of reference point) L = Legend (Or key) If you have Internet, from Google Earth, to compare a map with a real image. As a final assessment, allow students to build their own community. They work in groups of 4-5 to make a map group. Start with the list of places that were part of the community. Create a map of fiction community on a large white construction paper. I used different size post-its to represent houses or businesses to maintain scale. The 1 "x 1 1 / 2" post-it are houses. A little more may be restaurants or shops. Then the 6 "ones that could be Wal-Mart example. Use M sticks to trace the streets. The community does not need to have everything on the list, mainly places to work and live. The proportion of homes and businesses should roughly equal. Remember TODAL on the cards! The fun begins. The whole class will now construct a model 3-D community. Have them vote on the best card. Use as a basis for the model. Do not insist that exactly match the card. Just allow students to have fun building the model. Use 1 / 2 pint cartons of milk to students to drink for lunch. These are houses or small businesses. Bigger buildings could be 2-3 boxes together. Using construction paper, and a group of students imagination build your community! Remember the streets! Cut strips of black construction paper about 3 inches wide. hot wheel cars are the size perfect for this community. Teach scale. We can not be as big as houses and cars can not be that big. Assign a place for students. Thus, in a class of 26, there are about 13 houses and 13 businesses (including a school, library, police station, etc.) Get a large flattened cardboard to build immediately. Good luck!
